Men using fake IDs posing as police officers in Sussex (UK)

In May, 2010 two conmen were targeting homes in Sussex pretending to be police officers. They were posing as plain dressed police officers not wearing any uniform and they presented themselves with a fake ID. They managed to convince two elderly women on the same day but separate occasion to let them in their house. According to BBC they managed to steal £3,300 all together.
Sussex police would like to inform people that all their employees carry ID badges with a photograph, their name and identification number. No other means of identification is used by the police officers.
